The classic parasol is being challenged not only by better versions of itself thanks to new shapes and materials but also by a whole range of new alternative ways of winning the hunt for shade.
The speed at which designers are pouring out new designs makes this category one of the most active in the outdoor market.

2/ The function junction
Probably the biggest drive in product development terms is the rise of multi-functional outdoor designs. Space being at such a premium, designers are integrating a shade option to chairs, loungers and tables or adding lighting, heating, seating and ‘table’  functions to parasols.
