The outdoor market is enjoying the rise of a new, young brand,  April Allterior. The brand promises to combine high-grade materials with minimalist design and a special focus on designs that work indoors and out.

Asche & Unkelbach was founded in 2007 by Florian Asche and Klaus Unkelbach. They subsequently launched April Allterior in 2009.

An example of their new designs includes the Shagrila they launched this year.

The price for their sunroof, called SHANGRILA, is €3.650,00 plus VAT

About the stability of  this light weight design:

The following aspects are important regarding the stability of the ShangriLa:
1. when the wind hits the fabric, it creates a kind of arch (curve) in the fabric. There is a steel
bar fixed to the lower side of the fabric which again is running on steel wires on the sides. This makes sure
that the wind power is hardly hitting the frame of the ShangriLa. Therefore it is much stronger against wind than a parasol . Â
2. The stainless steel frame is very strong but flexible. This allows the frame to move a little when there is strong wind.
3. The ShangriLa can also be fixed to the floor (or wall) if requested.
4. If there is a strong storm, the fabric can easily be wrapped (furled together).

- It is available in six colors: beige, red, blue, black, grey and orange

- The frame is made of stainless steel and the fabric is 100% acrylic by the company sunbrella

Weight

- The weight is approx. 60 kg (two people can easily move it)

A few insights on how one sets it up and store.

The brand says:  ‘We are currently working on an assembly instruction (also short assembly movie). It is pretty easy to put it together, two people will be

required though. It comes flat packed and can be stored like that but it’s mend to stay outside all year.
